Anticipation

Bahia del Sol, El Salvador

The heat and humidity here in El Salvador seem to be on the rise.  Like this giant lemon, we are starting to get ripe.

We have moved the boat to the marina at Bahia del Sol to make some final preparations, so we can be on our way to points further south, where we are sure the weather will be much dryer and cooler.  It is amazing what you can convince yourself of, if you try.  We are busy trying to turn the boat from a stationary home into an ocean-going cruiser again; stowing some of the solar panels, rigging jack-lines, hauling the dinghy on-deck and generally battening down the hatches.

Where is Waldo?
With all of the larger boats that have been arriving at the marina over the last couple of months (at least a dozen new boats since the start of the year), you might find it hard to spot our tiny beige-colored mast hiding amongst these behemoths.  The most recent arrival was this 73-foot trawler from Vancouver - now that is travelling in style!

We seem to have a reasonable weather window for the short hop (a little over 100 miles) to Nicaragua, and we had tentatively decided on leaving this morning.  However, yesterday Susanne was not feeling too well, so we postponed it indefinitely.  This morning she is much better and we are now scheduled for departure tomorrow morning, assuming the process of checking out of the country is easier than our previous attempt at staying longer.

Would be stow-away on one of our solar panels!
