Nanaimo, BC, Canada
Well, the summer here in Canada is almost over and what do we have to show for it?
We have had a mostly quiet time, with visits to both local and distant lakes, where our friends seem to feel we should be doing even more sailing than we already do. In fact we do seem to spend an extraordinary amount of time on or around some sort of watercraft, be it tacking into the wind in various and sundry sailboats, of just riding the big ferries to Vancouver island. In addition we have spent time with friends and relatives at their homes both in the city and nearby. Summer in Edmonton is very special - it is just too bad it is so short. All in all, we have no complaints.
We are currently on our 2nd trip into our neighboring province of British Columbia. On the first trip, we spent the entire time at our friend's lovely cabin on Kootenay lake. On this 2nd trip, we are making a point to get to the coast, partly in order to do some shopping for boat stuff, but more just to remind ourselves how much we like the island.
Right now we are in our old home port of Nanaimo, enjoying the mostly sunny but somewhat cool weather. After about a week here, we will have to start making our way back to Edmonton. With less than a month left now until we fly back to El Salvador, we feel as if we are running out of time, although exactly what we think we have to do is not really clear.
For those technophobes out there, I am trying something a little different with this post; it is being done completely from an Apple Ipad instead of a computer. If it goes well, it will make it a little easier to do these postings when on the road. If it does not go well, please bear with me.
